One Million Stars Against Violence

Maryann Taliapau is a Samoan weaver who spent time with us twice last year and we helped contribute to her “One Million Stars Against Violence” Exhibition.  She is still after helpers to keep weaving stars for her installation  at the end of this year. Maryann would like to find 100 communities or individuals before the end of the year who can weave at least 10,000 stars.

“Weaving Communities of Courage to End Violence”.

Temora Rural Museum 41st Annual Exhibition

The HOW Group enjoyed a sunny day providing weaving demonstrations at Temora’s 41st Annual Exhibition at the Temora Rural Museum. Aunty Lorraine Tye, Aunty Joyce Hampton, Linda Elliot and Julie & Jayne Christian attended on behalf of the HOW Group.

We were honoured to have our Aunty Lorraine do the official Welcome to Country at the opening of the Exhibition.

Bill Spiers of the Temora Rural Museum did a wonderful job making sure the day ran smoothly for all and even found some time to spend time with the Group in the Museum’s Aboriginal cultural room, a special room showcasing special artwork, artifacts and stories dedicated to representing Temora’s ‘little-known-about’ Aboriginal history.Image
